| What is a Jam Session? The Jam session is a 12-month program where participants learn, earn, and serve through their social entrepreneurial experience. By taking an idea for a positive social change from its initial phase all the way to its final launch through Sansori, several skills are learned, such as: how to skillfully assess the demand for your service or product, how to understand the interests of social investors, what business and creative professionals have done to reach their own level of success, and what precedents can tell you about your social enterprise idea, even before it launches! |
|
These self-directed, self-inspired projects are developed with the backing of pre-vetted research material provided to members of the Jam Session. In addition to this material, members of the Jam Session consult business and creative professionals as well as social investors who can guide them during their development process.
To be involved in a Jam Session is to be involved in a collaborative team project where creativity and business-minded pragmatism intersect. |

| 1. Online Intro and Orientation Participants introduce themselves in an online forum – a dynamic get-to-know-you that also becomes a platform for resource and idea sharing. All participants review basic information on start-up organization and finance and build a shared base of reference by reading several books featuring case studies and wisdom from the field of social entrepreneurship. 2. Residential Session During the Residential Session, participants enter a daily flow of activities designed to stimulate the whole person – from meditation and movement classes to leadership and business seminars, from work on a local farm to in-depth Q-and-A's with invited international experts. Through this mix of experiential, practical, and theoretical learning, Sansori participants develop a practice of being totally present, opening themselves to bold new ideas and generating truly creative solutions to some of the most pressing problems of today. A team of coaches, mentors, and investors guide participants throughout the Residential Session and help draw out the path by which these creative solutions will move from idea to reality. Participants will also have ample open space to dialogue amongst themselves, inspiring one another with their passions and visions for change. All participants leave the Residential Session with new financial, organizational, presentational, creative, and leadership tools with which to begin creating the social venture of their dreams.

3. Extended Jam Session Following the Residential Session, participants continue their collaboration both online and in person. Participants may choose to pursue their own initiative or partner with fellow participants. Each month, participants work through a new topic, critical to launching a venture. Taught using case studies, online resources, interactive webinars with experts and individualized professional guidance, these topics include: Identifying Market Need, Service/Product, Distribution, Marketing, Finance, Public Relations, Customer Service, Team Building, Tech Platform, Legal Considerations, Accounting, And more... A business coach meets once every four weeks with the group to answer questions, provide feedback, and track group progress. Subject matter experts guide the participants through webinars which are held at least once a month. The creative mentor meets one-on-one with group members on a monthly basis in addition to checking in with the group as a whole. Creative topics include centering, attentiveness, openness/listening, body awareness, and equanimity. Field trips and meetings with leaders at existing social enterprises further deepen their shared pool of knowledge, references, and contacts. Sansori strives to create a flexible and dynamic learning environment – covering the basics but also catering to specific needs. By the end of the program, all participants will have done the bulk of the work in realizing their own venture or in implementing plans to improve an existing one. At this point, Sansori participants are eligible for additional seed funding and continued support as they launch and grow their enterprises. Tuition: The year-long Jam Session costs $9,500. This includes room and board at the Residential Session as well as the year-long tuition. Transportation cost is not included. Qualified applicants may be eligible for fellowships up to 50% of the tuition.
