Jonathan Doochin is a serial social entrepreneur. While studying psychology and economics at Harvard College, Jonathan started and ran a motivational speaking program centered around children with learning disabilities, an international Ferrari brokerage, an office supply and recycling company that focused on fundraising for not-for-profits, and worked to help found the Leadership Institute at Harvard College.
         After college, Jonathan spent two years at McKinsey & Company consulting businesses on strategy. He joined Clark Realty Capital where he ran a financial services company and co-founded and ran a venture capital group as well as an energy services company focused on renewable generation and energy efficiency. Jonathan also served as a Senior Advisor to the US Department of Energy. In his spare time, he taught Positive Psychology at Harvard to 80 students.
         Jonathan graduated from Harvard Business School where he co-founded the Sales Club, worked with USAID to help change renewable energy policy in Morocco, and worked as a financial and energy consultant.Jonathan is currently an Assistant Dean at Harvard College and is focused on building his current company. He enjoys rock climbing, running, skiing, spelunking, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Leadership Institute at Harvard College.


Geri Mannion
Program Director, Carnegie Corporation

As director of Carnegie Corporation's U.S. Democracy Program, Geri Mannion brings a wealth of experience about the role of philanthropy in challenging, improving and deepening the civic dialogue, with a special focus on immigrant civic integration. Active in professional organizations that work to advance and strengthen the philanthropic and nonprofit world, Geri is a former co-chair of the Funders' Committee for Civic Participation, an affinity group of funders that encourages foundations to fund voter registration, voting rights, civic education and campaign finance reform. She remains an active leader in this organization and just completed a second term as co-chair. She also serves on the boards of Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees, the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, and the Center for Development and Population Activities. In 2009, Geri, together with her colleague Taryn Higashi, received the Robert W. Scrivner Award for Creative Grantmaking, one of philanthropy's highest honors, for founding the Four Freedoms Fund, a funder collaborative. In 2010, she was named as one of the nonprofit sector's top fifty leaders by the Non-Profit Times. Geri holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in political science, both from Fordham University.

Scott Phillips is co-founder and President of Isocentric Networks, Oklahoma's premier web hosting and colocation services provider. Prior to Isocentric, Scott was a Powertrain Engineer for Saturn Corporation and has worked as an independent racing consultant/engineer. He has a broad spectrum of published Journal Articles and has spoken nationally on Alternative Fueled Vehicle Technology. He also founded Commercial Electronics which provides contract R & D and engineering services to the public and private sector.

Scott received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University. Scott is a past Chairman of the Mid-Continent Section of the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Tulsa Engineering Foundation (TEF). He is currently serving as a Trustee of the Tulsa Engineering Challenge and a Trustee for TEF. Scott was recently recognized by Tulsa People Magazine as one of Tulsa's top 40 people under the age of 40.

William Paiva is a veteran venture capitalist with experience in the biomedical industry, management consulting, and investment banking. As a Venture Partner at Sevin Rosen Funds, William identifies early-stage venture opportunities at the intersection of traditional technology sectors and healthcare. He also uses his healthcare industry focus and network to assist their portfolio companies develop applications and services for the healthcare market. William currently serves on the boards of several private healthcare companies. He also teaches at the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. William holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Dartmouth College's Amos Tuck School of Business.

Piruze Sabuncu is a co-founder of Challenge Project, a gaming platform that uses the combined powers of social networks and game dynamics to promote healthier lifestyles. She worked at Dell Inc., managing business partnerships, and as a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Piruze completed her MBA at Harvard Business School, where she focused on entrepreneurship and healthcare. She also studied Business at the University of Texas at Austin and Middle East Technical University in Ankara. She also loves hiking, skiing, and surfing.

MIT, Senior Lecturer Peter Senge is the founding chairperson of SoL (Society for Organizational Learning) and a senior lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of The Fifth Discipline: the Art and Practice of the Learning Organization. He has lectured extensively throughout the world, translating the abstract ideas of systems theory into tools for better understanding of economic and organizational change. He has worked with leaders in business, education, health care and government. The Journal of Business Strategy (September/October 1999) named Peter as one of the 24 people who had the greatest influence on business strategy over the last 100 years. The Financial Times (2000) named him as one of the world's "top management gurus." Business Week (October 2001) rated Peter as one of The Top (ten) Management Gurus. Peter received a B.S. in engineering from Stanford University, an M.S. in social systems modeling, and a Ph.D. in management from MIT.


zajoncArthur Zajonc
Amherst College, Professor

Arthur Zajonc is Andrew Mellon professor of physics and interdisciplinary studies at Amherst College, where he has taught since 1978. His research has included studies in electron-atom physics, parity violation in atoms, quantum optics, the experimental foundations of quantum physics, and the relationship between science, the humanities and the contemplative traditions. He has written extensively on Goethe’s science work. Arthur has worked closely with the Dalai Lama for the past two decades and led many public conversations on the Mind and Life, including the Scientific Explorations of Compassion and Altruism conference at Stanford in October 2010. He currently directs the Academic Program of the Center for Contemplative Mind which supports appropriate inclusion of contemplative practice in higher education. Out of this work and his long-standing meditative practice, he has authored Meditation as Contemplative Inquiry: When Knowing Becomes Love (2009).
